What is obvious now wasn’t back then. And what isn’t obvious today will be one day ! I hope…
I see so many ads that are for me, as a nutritionist, OBVIOUSLY very untrue.
Selling benefits that don’t exist.
Health claims that are hiding something else…
Manipulation of social standards.
Targeting vulnerable kids…. And the long list goes on…
I will very soon create another list of shocking food commercials… but next time it will not be vintage!
For now, look at these marketing gems :
7 up a family drink ! Wait, it gets worse… you’ll see in a few seconds. Scroll down.
Is Coca Cola healthy ? Obviously it was presented that way back in those days. It says here : ‘Coca Cola is a delightful, a palatable and healthful beverage. It relieves fatigue and is indispensable. It relieves mental and physical exhaustion.‘ yeah yeah…
Here you go ! These two are masterpieces !
I really would love to know if these are 100% true or someone somewhere is laughing at this joke. I hope it is a joke !
Update: Well, I have checked and it seems like the ‘How soon is too soon’ ad is not real but that the 7 up one is.
You feel unhappy ? Lard is the solution. Didn’t you know?
Once the baby is hooked you can continue giving him 7 up during his childhood!
Coca Cola targeting the rich and privileged. ‘Beneficial results’. ‘All Healthy and happy’

Food marketing hasn’t changed that much, it is just more subtle now.
